What a great night at the Artrix Theatre, Bromsgrove on American Independence Day, Saturday July 4th2015
For the first time, Vale Harmony and our sistera cappellachorus, Vale Connection, collaborated with The Redditch Orchestra for a celebration in music and song of all things American.
And the finale… America from West Side Story, was a fabulous visual treat.(Below)

The Redditch Orchestra played the Stars & Stripes March and the Liberty Bell Marchby Sousa, dances from Copland’s Rodeoand a medley from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma.
Vale Connection took us from the east coast of the USA with New York, New Yorkover to the west withSan Francisco Blues.Their Musical Director, Amanda Ballard , made an entertaining arrangement of theme tunes from various TV Westerns called A Fistful of Cowboys
Vale Harmony sang a range of songs reflecting the American tradition of Barbershop , ranging from Yes Sir, That’s My Baby, and Alexander’s Ragtime Bandthrough to5ft 2 Eyes of Blueand Georgia. The whole evening finished with the orchestra and the two choruses all together in a colourful rendition of Americafrom West Side Story.
BBC TV presenter, Michael Collie( below), was the compere for our show.
