Wow, Eddie ! – You did it! Fantastic! The Sky’s the Limit!

Our Engagements Secretary, Eddie Howell, raised an amazing £8,000  for charity with his gutsy tandem skydive .

At the ripe young age of 81, Eddie  made  an exhilarating  jump  from 10,000 feet at Wanborough airfield near Swindon on  Sunday 17thSeptember.

He took the plunge to raise money in memory of his eldest daughter Cherry, who died a year last December a ged 56.   The proceeds from his jump will go to St Richard’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Eddie’s £8,300 total was given an extraordinary  boost by his 99-year old uncle, Charles Howell, who lives near the airfield in Swindon and who donated £5,000.

Said Eddie: ” My uncle said he envied my courage.  I am very lucky to have had such tremendous support from all my family and friends”.

It was the best experience of my life, and one which could not possibly be equalled”

Eddie told his  Vale Harmony colleagues afterwards:  “The freefall stage  lasted about  6 minutes and they seemed like the longest six minutes of my life  but it was marvellous”.

Four Vale Harmony colleagues were there to see him  and  sang a very appropriate tag  “Some Day I’ll Fly Away”.

Eddie is keeping his online giving page open until December 2018 , aiming to increase his total with a concert in June next year, at Evesham Arts Centre.  Striving to reach £10,000, he’ll be staging two performances of ‘Ahoy’, a musical story based on the raising of the Mary Rose.

His giving page is:  virginmoney giving.com/EddieHowell

Eddie sends his thanks to everyone who sponsored him. We’ll keep you updated on the final amount he’s raised.
